Lauf star Jakob Ingigtsen says in court against his father and former coach Gjert Inbrigtsen. The Norwegian speaks of a childhood full of fear and violence.
The Norwegian Olympic champion Jakob Inbrigtsen has accused his father and former coach Gjert Inbrigtsen that he had been violent towards him. This was reported by the Norwegian news agency NTB from the Sör-Rogaland district court.
Gjert Ingigtsen, who is charged with psychological and physical abuse of two of his seven children, rejects the allegations. In addition to Jakob Inbrigtsenen, his 18 -year -old daughter is also said to be affected.
According to NTB, the 24-year-old reported in the courtroom in the Norwegian Sandnes of experiences from his childhood. So his father kicked him in his stomach after falling while driving with the scooter. In another case, Gjert put him on his head several times. “My upbringing was very shaped by fear,” said Inbrigtsen, according to the Norwegian newspaper “Verdens Gang”. “Everything was checked and decided for me. An enormous amount of manipulation.”
Jakob Insbrigtsen also described his father in court as follows: “In the time when I was younger, between five and eleven years old, I would describe him as nervous, neurotic and insecure. Extremely controlling. He had a lot of fear and uncertainty in himself what turned into anger and aggression towards people.”
In the coming days, Jakob Inbrigtsen’s younger sister will also say against her father as a witness. The negotiation is expected to last until mid -May.
For a long time, Gjert Ingigtsen was the coach of his successful sons Jakob, Filip (31) and Henrik (34), who celebrated great success as medium -distance runners. Jakob Ingigtsen won the gold medal over 1,500 meters at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021 and won gold over 5,000 meters in Paris in 2024. He also became world champion twice about this distance.
Just a few days ago, the 24-year-old triumphed at the Hallen World Cup in China and secured the titles over 1,500 and 3,000 meters. The brothers separated from their father as a coach in 2022. Gjert Inshernen is currently training the Norwegian medium -distance runner Narve Gilje Nordås.
