In an interview with “FluxfM”, Boyd explained: “We completed the album about two months ago. It is mastered, mixed and ready to get started.” Nevertheless, the EP should only be released in October. “The sad thing about the completion of the album today is that, as much as I would like to publish it; I would like to publish it tomorrow, and we can publish it tomorrow, but it would just be lost in the mass of the Internet, you know what I mean?” Said the singer.
The first single of the album is to be released before October. Nevertheless, Boyd has concerns that the song will go down on the Internet: “Even with all the preparations we will meet, she will most likely still be lost on the Internet. Because the Internet is.” After all, he can say that with a laugh.
According to the interview, the record was produced by the long-time studio colleague of Incubus, Brendan O’Brien. In the past, this has already produced three albums from the band and Brandon Boyd’s solo project Sons of the Sea. Boyd seems to be happy about the new cooperation, because he explained: “He is my favorite producer I have ever worked with, and I am so happy that we could work with him again for this experience.” Ultimately, it seems to have been easy for the group to record the new album. “Everything went very quickly, which is always a good sign for us,” said the 49-year-old.
The first album in a new constellation
For the new Incubus bassist Nicole Row, it is the first major joint project with the group. In an interview, Boyd had praised words for his colleague: “We are all totally in love with her, and she quickly became an asset to the band. We are very, very happy that she is on board.”
There have been rumors about the new music of the rock band for a long time. In November 2024, Brandon Boyd posted a picture from the studio on his Instagram account and wrote: “I don’t want to speak too early, but we are about to complete a new incubus album.”
The upcoming work is the successor to the record 8, which was already published in 2017. Before the release, the “Morning View + the Hits Tour” through South and North America takes place. More information, such as the title of the next LP, is not yet known.
