Many units were called to come to the fire. “There was scaled up to a big fire, because you are sitting here in the western port area,” says a fire brigade spokesperson. “We also had to go all the way back on the site. So then you’ll set up quickly, especially because such things can be complex.”
Once in the back at one of the Waternet branches, an external generator appeared to be on fire. There were large plumes of smoke, as shown above in the photo.
Various specialist teams have been involved in jobs. The fire brigade was there, but Port of Amsterdam was also involved.
Probably no impact on sewage treatment
Someone from Waternet says that the fire probably had no effect on the water treatment chain.
