McLaren-Pilot Oscar Piatri for the first time in his Formula 1 career has secured the pole position for a Grand Prix and starts in Shanghai on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Australian raced to the first starting position for the China Grand Prix in 1: 30.641 minutes in 1: 30.641 minutes. The British Mercedes driver George Russell surprisingly made it to second place. The favorite World Cup leader Lando Norris was only third in the second McLaren, followed by Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Nico Hülkenberg steered his clean in twelve.
Norris with a mini-advantage a second World Cup run
A few hours earlier, record world champion Lewis Hamilton had celebrated his first victory in Ferrari in the sprint. The 40-year-old Brit prevailed over 100 kilometers in the first short race of the year in front of Piatri and world champion Verstappen in the Red Bull. World Cup leader Norris failed and was only eighth.
McLaren-Pilot Norris, who won at the start in Australia, leads with two points ahead of Verstappen before the main race. Verstappen won the China Grand Prix in front of Norris last year.
