In total there are plans to build 68,000 homes in Noord-Holland Noord. The majority of this, 42,500 homes, must be realized before 2030. These houses are mainly planned in two areas: the Alkmaar Corridor (between Uitgeest, Alkmaar and Schagen) and the West Frisian corridor (between Obdam, Hoorn and Enkhuizen). A large part of these houses will be built within existing cities.

Substantial investments are needed for the plans. Mainly in the existing traffic node and bottlenecks. Because it is precisely those that ensure that part of the existing housing projects are stylish. A good example of this is the Zandzoom project at Heiloo. Of the 2800 homes in this project, 2000 still have to be built. Construction will only continue when the village is connected to the A9. It is therefore not surprising that the minister visited this construction project today.

Family ‘hostage’ by Zandzoom

A young family from Heiloo experiences problems because their village is not yet connected to the A9. Alrik Gaasterland and Keete Magrijn have been waiting for four years at the start of the construction of their dream house in the future Zandzoom district. Because the zoning plan of the new construction project is not getting off the ground, the family feels hostage. “Our situation is untenable. We no longer keep this up financially and emotionally,” They told NH earlier.

“Housing in Zandzoom is of great importance for the NHN region,” says Ronald Vennink, alderman Wonen van Heiloo. “As municipalities, we have taken our responsibility and the plans are ready, but the connection with the A9 is the key to the start of construction. With cooperation and support of the government, we can actually realize these homes and ensure a good living and living environment.”
