Sumit Dhingra takes over the management for the Indian market of the Bestseller Group.

Dhingra starts his new role as Country Director for India at the Danish clothing group with effect from June 1, said Bestseller on Wednesday. He follows Vineet Gautam, who handed over the position last year.

The new India boss brings over 20 years of experience in the fashion and lifestyle industry and has expertise in the areas of corporate management, brand structure, retail expansion and strategic growth.

He gained his experience in global and Indian brands. He started his career at the Indian clothing group Aditya Birla Fashion and Lifestyle. He was also active for the clothing provider United Colors of Benetton and Arvind Fashion. Dhingra comes from Crocs to bestseller, where he has held various management positions in the past five years. At the US shoe provider, he headed business activities in India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

“Sumit has extensive experience in the fashion industry and a management approach that fits well with bestsellers and our destinations in India,” said bestseller CEO Anders Holch Povlsen. “We continue to focus on the growth of our business in this market, and I am confident that Sumit will contribute to promoting this growth together with the team.”

India is an important market for the parent company of brands such as Vero Moda and Jack & Jones and the group is planning to further strengthen its presence there, according to the bestseller boss.
