Fisis boss Mika Kojonkoski rejects criticism. He presents a familiar instrument value for his bread species.
The mass scam of Norwegian skiers at the Trondheim World Championships did not come as a surprise to the species. Different rules in the gray area of the rules have been in the sport throughout this millennium.
The Norwegians were the first in their home competitions to get stuck on the crush. It happened to them like Finnish skiers in Lahti in 2001.
-We did not understand the costumes in the 1990s. They were not stretched, and we didn’t even pull the straps under the boots, the Olympic champion Toni Nieminen tells you.
– It was done so much that the number vests with a rubber surface inside were torn off the front, Nieminen recalls.
The hill legend says that the going in Finland changed when the returned homeland from Austria Mika from Kojonkoski Came the head coach of the national team in 1999.
– Mika had seen around the world how the costumes had been made into the areas. We were considerably behind in Finland.
According to Nieminen, at the initiative of Kojonkoski, 15 centimeters were cut off the jumps of the jumpsuits and the textiles were stretched significantly.
-There was a more carrying area when we took the overalls to the boundaries of the rules.
Kojonkoski smiles at old events.
– The fact that the suit forms one upper surface from the back to the feet is the basic knowledge of aerodynamics. It’s not giggling. My coaching work and its equipment development have always been based on science, he comments.
Ticking
Mika Kojonkoski is chairman of the International Ski Association’s Fisis Ski Jumping Committee. Pasi Liesimaa
Kojonkoski from Savolainen Kojonkoski has led the International Ski Association (FIS) Ski Jumping Committee since 2015.
He enjoys very much appreciation among the international sports people.
Iltalehti conducted several background interviews for this story. It was estimated that Kojonkoski had, of course, known that the big countries were cheating with jumping dresses, but he has looked at fingers and spread his hands.
– The same guy was bringing overalls to Finland, Nieminen says.
Kojonkoski states that he has not looked at any action against the rules through the fingers. He describes that dressing has been a challenge throughout the 21st century.
– Large development potential in jumping suits has been raised by rules, says Kojonkoski.
Eyes closed
FIS has tightened his jumping dress rules since Trondheim scandal. In Lahti, the locker was closed with an egg lock. Pasi Liesimaa
The Fisis Mountain Committee has a total of 23 members, two athletes and a dozen other decision -makers.
Many insiders feel that FIS has systematically closed their eyes from the costume scam, even though some rules have been made.
– It has often caused frustration over the years. Once the case has been made against the rules, the reaction has been more to keep things out of publicity so that the reputation of the organization does not suffer, charging the combined star Ilkka Herola.
According to Iltalehti, in Trondheim, FIS would not have reacted to the Norwegian cheating without a revelation video.
Kojonkoski cannot take a stand on events in Trondheim, but on a general level he says that Fis has worked in recent years.
– There has been a bodily bracket and a chip in jumping dresses. I think they are significant things. And when it comes to my role, the chairman of the Hill Committee alone does not do anything because these are always majority decisions.
Too much wise
Jumping dressing has been a problem in ski jumping throughout the millennium. Pasi Liesimaa
Evacation of a dress scam is easier than fighting forbidden substances forbidden in sports.
Therefore, it is strange that FIS has not put the problem in order.
– There are too many wise men in Fis. They are afraid of change. Viewers have been offered tremendously long jumps on current overalls. Therefore, it is thought that the species will die if the costumes are changed, Nieminen says.
– The same was feared when skating was part of cross -country skiing, he adds.
In Herola’s opinion, Fisi’s inactivity is downright dangerous.
– Athletes and teams begin to think that everyone else do other than the Norwegians. Then it is difficult for an individual athlete to say that I will not participate in that – at the same time, seven other friends are ready to participate in it and come to the national team. That’s why tight instrument control is extremely important for the sport, Herola comments.
Japanese Ryoyu kobayashi I would not have flown in Iceland in giant 291 meters at last season’s screen event if there were, for example, cross -country skiing.
– The overalls have escaped completely from gloves. It is necessary to intervene and return to the costumes of the last millennium, Nieminen sums up a hump plot.
– Jumping dimensions would be reduced and the level differences between jumpers would increase. Would be returned Nykänen Matin by. Is it death for the species? I don’t think he underlines.
Costume draw?
The World Ski Jumping World Cup ends over the weekend in Salpausselä, Lahti. Pasi Liesimaa
According to Kojonkoski, skin -friendly jumping suits could be an option, but on the other hand, the possibility of connecting would significantly deteriorate and the collision forces of the lower would increase.
The FIS boss proposes elastic standard costumes according to the athlete’s dimensions and the value of equipment familiar to the sailing races.
-For example, 175-cent jumpers have ten costumes for one season and before the race, who will get some suit. The costumes are in the possession of Fisi throughout the season, meaning they do not go to the service booth.
How realistic do you consider the idea you are presenting?
– Normally things go so that no changes are made before the Olympic season. The change I describe should be made this spring, Kojonkoski replies.
