What once started as a modest pub crawl has become a popular event that attracts visitors from the entire region. But after nine successful editions, the organization will stop. “With pain in our horror heart, we have to announce that the Halloween Horrorwalk Hoorn will unfortunately stop and will not take place from this year,” the organization says in a press release.
Despite the popularity, financial and organizational challenges ensure that the event is no longer profitable. “The growth in the number of visitors requires extra security and volunteers. We can no longer yield this, so that we can no longer guarantee the safety of both our volunteers and our visitors,” explains José Linders of the organization.
The organization was also instructed to further expand the facilities. “That is simply no longer possible with the available budget.”
King night
It is not the first event that disappears from Hoorn. It was previously announced that the King’s Night Festivities on the Roode Stone will not take place.
The organization looks back on a good time and thanks everyone who has been involved. “Together we have created a wonderful event with thousands of visitors for years.” The last edition of the horror event already ran last year.
