Tallinn (dpa -Afx) – In the border dispute with neighboring Russia, Estonia again called for the return of several buoys from Moscow in the Narva border river. “We emphasize that the territory of Estonia is inviolable and the removal of Boejen from Estonian waters is unacceptable,” says a diplomatic note that the Foreign Ministry of the Baltic EU and NATO country has given the invented business authority of the Russian Embassy in Tallinn.

In May 2024, Russia had unintentionally removed 24 out of 50 floating buoys with which the shipping route had been marked by Estonia. The Narva forms the border line between the two neighboring countries and at the same time also marks the eastern outer border of EU and NATO. Tallinn had repeatedly protested against the removal of the buoys that had not yet been returned. Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) also accused Russia of aggressive behavior.

In the new grade, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes that in view of the upcoming shipping season, Estonia would consider it necessary to place buoys again this year and to solve the question in a constructive way. The Estonian border protection has been regularly bronishing the markings in the Narva for years in order to prevent unintentional border crossings from fishermen, for example ./awe/dp/mis
