In 2027 the tour stops far in the north. The start will be in Scotland. Then it goes to England.
The Tour de France starts in Great Britain in 2027. Both the men’s and the women’s tour then begin on the island, as the British cycling association announced and thus confirmed the rumors that have been circulating for around two weeks.
It is already clear that the Grand Départ of the men will take place in Scotland’s capital Edinburgh. Further details on the route are to be published in autumn. Ex-world champion Mark Cavendish revealed that the route would then run through England and Wales before the driver field moves on to France.
For the men it will be the fifth tour of the tour in the United Kingdom, but the first for women. Most recently, the 2014 France tour in Yorkshire started in the north of England.
Tour starts outside of France are no longer uncommon. In 2022 the starting shot was given in Copenhagen, 2023 in Bilbao and 2024 in Florence. The tour in Lille begins this year, and Barcelona is planned as a starting point in 2026.
