TUI Cruises reacts to the wishes of many cruise fans and offers an adults-only cruise for the first time. While some celebrate the new offer as long -awaited innovation, the decision also causes criticism – and sparks a heated debate among travelers.

TUI starts cruise without children
About two years ago there were some voices among TUI cruise passengers that complained about children on board. As “the West” reported at the time, the discussion began with a traveler who was raving on Facebook from her cruise at the time. However, she criticized some fellow travelers: “The only criticism on the ship was adults/seniors who felt disturbed by the many children. Here on board there were 400 children and it could have been more for me.” Especially during the holiday season, it was unrealistic to expect a child -free ship.
A heated debate finally broke out under her post. While some shared their opinion, other significant symptoms about the background noise. A user even called for a special cruise option: “That is why it is time for an adult-only-be ship. We adults can also do nothing if the good bridge days fall into the holiday season.”
She continues: “Sorry to be honest here: But yes, with children there is simply noise (crying, trampling, screaming). Of course, the children cannot do anything for that, they are children. But it is just not relaxing.” Her proposal then received numerous approvals in the form of likes.
In the meantime, the German tourism company has followed the wishes of some cruise fans and has presented its first adults-only cruise. “With the Mein Schiff 6 the first Adults ONLY cruise: This trip is all about relaxation, which is specifically geared towards the wishes of adults. Adults ONLY: Pure relaxation in the Indian Ocean” Starts on November 17, 2025 in Cape Town, “says the announcement on Facebook.
But there were not only popularity among customers – which got the debate rolling again.
Joy and criticism among cruise fans
While a long -awaited wish is fulfilled for some, others react with outrage to TUI’s first cruise ship, in which only adults can go on board.
Comments like “Well finally, please more of it … With eight ships it has to be feasible” or “great, we have been waiting for something like that for a long time” that the demand for child -free cruises is quite there, how is there how T-online reported. Others, on the other hand, express significant criticism. Some travelers see the concept skeptical and comment: “For me, TUI as a travel provider died” or “children are our future and not a disruptive factor”. Voices that do not feel disturbed by children on board also speak out: “I don’t need it, children and young people don’t bother me. I was sometimes.”
In addition, some cruise fans demand that TUI Cruises also offer such trips for shorter routes within Europe. A 23-day trip is difficult for many working people with the available vacation days. “I would be up to 14 days, there is no vacation for a long time,” writes one user, while another adds: “We would book for Northern Europe or Mediterranean immediately.”
However, the idea of adults-only cruises is not new. Redereies like Viking Cruises, Virgin Voyages and Saga Cruises have already implemented concepts in which only adult passengers are approved on board. With this new offer, TUI Cruises is now joining this trend and is testing a purely adult target group on the high seas for the first time.
TUI share under pressure
It remains to be seen whether TUI will hold despite the criticism of the Adult-only cruise, or will even provide more offers in this direction due to positive calls.
The TUI share performed well since the introduction of the Adults-Only trip on March 4 and most recently cost 7.43 euros. However, since the beginning of the year, the MDAX value has lost around 11.36 percent (as of 19.03,2025).
