The Adler Mannheim lost their second game of the Playoff series against EHC Munich. The eagles lost 2: 5 in Munich. It is in the best-of-Seven series 1: 1.

After the narrow 2-1 win after extra time in game 1 The cracks from Adler Mannheim wanted to play out a comfortable tour in the quarter-final series of the DEL playoffs against EHC Munich with an away win. The guests initially got better into the game and could have taken the lead in the seventh minute, but John Gilmour failed at the brilliantly parrying Munich goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger. Just three minutes later, the home side cheered. After a pass from Yasin Ehliz, the free -standing Taro Hirose raised the puck over the shoulder of the Mannheim goalkeeper Arno Tiefensee into the goal.

Just five minutes later, the Munich goalkeeper was already over. Due to an injury that has not yet been diagnosed, Niederberger was replaced by Evan Fitzpatrick – who had to reach behind three minutes later: Kristian Reichel had entered 1-1. With this intermediate stand it went into the third break.

Munich turns up in the second third

After the break, a lively game developed with ever increasing advantages for the home side from Munich, who soon took control. The EHC used the playful overweight and took the lead again in the 26th minute through Filip Varejcka. In front of 10,796 spectators, the Munich team also remained game -determining and rewarded themselves in the 36th minute by attacker Tobias Rieder with the next goal. The second third ended with a well -deserved 3: 1 for EHC Munich. The eagles could have been even higher.

In the third third it was really bitter for the Mannheimers. After only two minutes played, it was already 4: 1 for the EHC from Munich. Markus Eisenschmid scored the three-goal lead (42nd minute). Mannheim seemed to not be able to increase the desolate performance from the second third in the final third. Completely out of nowhere then the goal for the eagles: Tobias Fohrler scored to 2: 4 (47th). Suddenly hope sprouted again.

Adler Mannheim cannot find back into the game

However, the hosts did not let Mannheim come into play again. In the remaining minutes of the game, the Munichers kept the eagles away from their own goal. Mandatory Mannheim attacks hardly took place. Instead, Munich even scored 5: 2 (Maximilian Kastner, 56.). So the game ended with a deserved victory for EHC Munich, which thus achieved the 1-1 equalization in the quarter-final series. Game three will take place on Friday (7:30 p.m.). Then the Adler Mannheim received the EHC Munich again in the home arena.
