Salons Tabaksbloem has not been used as a party room for several years. For three years, the Islamic non -profit organization Amal Al Madina has been renting a part of the building to pray there. Especially during Ramadan there is a lot of activity, but otherwise the space is not reminiscent of a mosque. Yet there is a lot of protest against the re -use from hospitality to community space.
According to ships Yves Obin, this is not a mosque here: “As a city administration, we cannot permit a mosque, that must be done by a higher government. This is only about a prayer room.”
