Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu of the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul was arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with a major corruption study. Turkish authorities also ordered the arrest of around a hundred other people, including journalists and businessmen. Imamoglu is accused of leading a criminal organization. He is one of the main opponents of President Erdogan.
