Borussia Dortmund’s professionals apparently have to expect significant financial losses when missing the Champions League. After the recent sporting slide, there are threatening sensitive salary, the club should miss its seasonal goals.

As the “Bild” newspaper now reports, the stars have to expect up to 20 percent salary if only the Conference League is reached in the end or the club completely misses international business. If it is still enough for the Europa League, the salary deduction is somewhat lower at ten percent.
The background to these regulations are the performance -related contracts that have been in force since 2022 under sports director Sebastian Kehl. In the Champions League, the professionals also benefit from point premiums that are completely omitted in the Europa League and Conference League.
According to the report, around 180 million euros in personnel costs are currently flowing into the team and coaching staff. Without international business, this budget would have to be reduced by around 30 million euros in the coming season. A team bonus that is usually paid for reaching the K.O. phase of the Champions League would then be omitted.
Most players receive a defined premium to reach the round of 16 in the premier class. The bonus payments from the quarter-finals are distributed to the players through the team council. To achieve this round, the team recently divided around two million euros after progressing Lille, which were weighted after operating times. There are also no such additional remuneration in the Europa League or Conference League.
The qualification for Europe has not yet been completely playful, but the team of coach Niko Kovač would have to put a huge final sprint. However, the rest of the program has it all: Dortmund still has to go in Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. After the international break, another “final” is also waiting against Mainz, which is currently taking third place.
