Residents themselves went to work, together with their children. Plants grow in the green flowering dune gardens that occur naturally in the vicinity of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park.

For example the wild cardinal hat, snowdrops and the rugged carnation. Gwen Pellinkhof from IVN, an organization for nature education: “Birds and butterflies benefit optimally from this natural planting. More than from exotic shrubs and flowers from the garden center.”

“We were able to do much more than we thought in advance,” said one of the local residents. “It is also very nice to do this together with the street.”
