One day before the end of the filing deadline for the license documents at the DFL, the mother club and the capital on Hannover 96 agreed just in time. Sports director Marcus Mann and Finanzmann Henning Bindzus will in future act in a double tip as managing director.
This was announced by the second division soccer team on Sunday afternoon. The man, which is now promoted to the sports manager, is therefore appointed until at least June 30, 2027 until June 30, 2029, Bindzus – former director of marketing and business relationships at HSV. Both take on their new tasks with immediate effect.
Her first job will be the timely signing and submission of the licensing documents for the 2025/26 season, which must be available at the German Football League (DFL) by Monday. Only one managing director may sign the license application. The Supervisory Board of Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGAA unanimously decided on March 5.
Low point in the eternal conflict
Since the long-time investor Martin Kind was recalled by the Federal Court of Justice last year, the management of the EV and the shareholders of the outsourced professional football department had not been able to agree on a successor, since there was a patient situation on the supervisory board.
“From now on, football is in the foreground again.”
– Supervisory Board member Hauke Jagau
The eternal power struggle and the months of hanging area even threatened the sporting future of the promotion candidate. The two designated bosses had actually been stuck long ago, but there were always conflicts in the details of the contracts. During the week, the permanent dispute almost escalated and the compliance with the DFL period was apparently utopian. Especially since two courts had recently rejected an application for an emergency manager.
Unanimous decision
So now finally the solution in the thriller for the managing director post. “The unanimous vote on the Supervisory Board of Management GmbH proves that we have together found a sustainable solution for Hannover 96,” Ralf Nestler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Management GmbH. “With Marcus Mann and Henning Bindzus we have a strong and competent management, which will give the right impulses both in terms of sport and economy.”
Financial expert at 96: Henning Bindzus.
Supervisory Board member Hauke Jagau was also relieved: “With Marcus Mann and Henning Bindzus, Hannover 96 is very well positioned. From now on, football is only in the foreground.”
