Strong appearance by Andreas Wellinger: One day after his surprising victory in Vikersund, he secured a second place – and thus an important title.
Andreas Wellinger won the prestigious RAW-Air tour in Norway for the first time. The 29-year-old Bayer secured the overall victory of the series with a second place in the final competition in Vikers and.
The Slovenian Domen Prevc, which jumped an impressive 247 meters, won the day’s victory on the famous world record hill. Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan completed the podium as third. Wellinger is the first German to win the RAW-Air tour.
The Olympic champion had developed a strong starting position for the final with a single win on Saturday. Due to difficult wind conditions, however, only one round was held on Sunday.
The planned three jumps and the qualifications were eliminated. The women’s ski flight competition had already been canceled without replacement.
After the turbulent events around the suit scandal at the World Cup, in which Wellinger had won silver behind Norwegian Marius Lindvik, which had now been blocked, a little rest came into the ski jump circus this weekend. The examinations for the manipulated suits continue, five Norwegian athletes are currently blocked (you can read more about this here).
