Residents of the Kreitenmolenstraat in Udenhout woke up on Sunday with a huge havoc in front of the door. A motorist crashed into a stone wall on Saturday night, rode a tree out of the ground, bumped into a parked car, drove straight through a billboard and came to a halt against a second tree. “It must have gone very fast,” says local resident William Verspeek. “As if he drove more than a hundred kilometers per hour.”
William happened to be awake and heard a very hard blow around five in the morning. “At first I thought someone had closed his car door very hard, but it was actually too hard for that.” When he went to the toilet, he saw that there was indeed more going on. “I saw flashing lights from police cars and there was a tree on the street. It was just in bloom, because the entire street was full of blossom. It seemed like it had snowed.”
The maximum speed in the Kreitenmolenstraat is thirty kilometers per hour. “But it is a busy road that is regularly driven too fast,” says William. “And at five in the morning, when the road is empty, it also seems tempting to drive faster.”
Another neighbor has looked back on her camera images. She saw that the car drove way too fast and that the driver lost control of the wheel.
The motorist crashed against the back of a parked car. The front garden of the house where it stood is full of rubble. Then he hit a billboard. “That was five meters away,” says William.

William saw how the driver was questioned by the police. “He seemed to be in the late twenty. I believe his parents came too. After that he was taken by the police.”
