They are among the best of their sport. And found their luck in love a long time ago.

In the dense snow of Åre, Lena Dürr stood in front of the scoreboard last weekend. The shadow -recognizable screen showed the bitter result: The best German slalom runner had achieved the slowest term in the final.

This lost the podium placement, which seemed close to the first round in the first round. In the end, Dürr had to be satisfied with seventh place – and even if it was the best performance of the German alpines on this sobering weekend, comfort did not donate to her.

“I’m really disappointed,” said the 33-year-old in the ARD. She tried to take the fight, but that was “not successful”. “I didn’t get in the course of the run – and then it’s not enough,” said Dürr. Already in the giant slalom, Dürr had fallen back to 22nd to 22th place in the former World Cup location. Not beautiful in terms of sport, it looks very different in love with Lena Dürr.

She has been with ski star Fritz Dopfer since 2012, who even became vice world champion in 2015. But neither of them want to talk much about it. Dopfer already said to BILD in 2013: “Yes, it’s true. We are together. But we don’t want to say more about our private life.” So both have been holding it for 13 years now.

Both are not only successful in love. Lena Dürr took part in eight world championships, won two World Cups in singles, one in the team competition. In 2022 she celebrated her greatest sporting success in Beijing: silver in the team race at the Olympics. However, she missed a single medal. For a long time she was on a gold course, but was only fourth.

At the end of 2022, Dürr admitted in an interview that you still might be bothered by the missed chance: “I still think back and think: what if.” At the finish line, she had only missed 0.19 seconds for the Olympic victory. “I think back positively, even if everything was there that day, from the highest to the right deep. But that is part of it and I have grown,” said Dürr.

Fritz Dopfer also has a successful career to show for a long time alongside superstar Felix Neureuther. Once silver and once bronze at the Alpine World Ski Championships, his trophy showcases decorate. In 2020 he broke up. Dopfer wrote on Instagram: “Competitive sports – I’m looking good!” He told of beautiful moments, but also of “dark sides”. His body simply no longer allowed “to be able to exercise sport with the last consequence”.
