The 1. FC Heidenheim and replacement goalkeeper Vitus Eicher go separate paths at the end of the season after eight and a half years. The expiring contract of the 34-year-old is not extended. Eicher came to the FCH in early 2017 from 1860 Munich, for which he completed twelve games as long -term number two.
“After such a long and successful collaboration as with Vitus, this decision was by no means easy for us. With regard to the future, we met it and opened this Vitus in a personal conversation. Vitus has dealt with it extremely professionally, as we have known and appreciated it in Heidenheim for years. As a member of our team council, he continues to put himself in the service of our team every day. Until the end of his contract, we will therefore be able to rely on an experienced personality with him, which we want to say goodbye to the relegation after this season, ”said CEO Holger Sanwald.
Eicher added: “In my view, the coming summer is also the right time for a change. I am excited to see what the future will bring for me. At the same time, I am already proud that I was allowed to go on the successful path of 1. FC Heidenheim in the summer of eight and a half years. For this I am very grateful to my teammates, coaches and those responsible. Until my farewell, there are still important tasks ahead of us in the next few weeks and months. My complete focus is now on and I will subordinate everything by then! “
