In the first match of Volleyball Men’s Cev Champions League quarter-final match, our representative Halkbank defeated Poland’s strong team PGE Project 3-1 and provided advantage before the rematch.
TVF Ziraat Bankkart Hall, the match played from Jan Kriga from Czech and Salvis Kurtiss referee from Latvia directed the duo. The sets of the struggle, which lasted for 94 minutes, resulted in 25-20, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-18.
In the first set of the match, both teams exhibited a balanced game. Following the 9-9 equality, Halkbank caught a series of 4-0 with its effective services and brought the score to 13-9. In the last part of the set, PGE Project trying to close the difference, even though the score brought to 20-18 Halkbank did not make mistakes, the first set won the first set 25-20.
The guest team started the second set quickly, went ahead 1-4. Although Halkbank achieved equality at 5-5, it fell 14-19 in the middle of the set by increasing service errors. PGE Project, this advantage well evaluated and set the set 25-22 made the situation 1-1.
In the third set, despite falling back 2-5, Halkbank recovered, went ahead 6-5 with effective services and brought the difference to 13-7. Halkbank, who did not pass the opponent in the defense, won this set in a comfortable way and made the score 2-1.
Halkbank, who started the fourth set quickly, exhibited a superior game from start to finish. The Başkent team completed the set with a superiority of 6-2, winning the match 3-1 and gained a great advantage.
The most valuable player of the struggle (MVP) was Yoandy Leal, the star name of Halkbank, who played with 23 points.
The rematch struggle between the two teams will be played on Wednesday, March 19 in Poland.
