Yann Bisseck is about his first possible appearance in the DFB selection. Started at Cologne, he now shines in Italy’s league tip.

Yann Aurel Bisseck’s grin reveals more than words. “I am not expressing myself,” said Inter Milan’s central defender when asked whether he will soon be appointed to the German national team’s line -up for the first time. But his follow -up “I’m waiting until Thursday, I am in good spirits” sounded promising.

An exciting spring is imminent. Yann Bisseck seems ready to raise his career to the next level – maybe soon in the jersey of the German national team. If national coach Julian Nagelsmann announces his contingent for the upcoming Nation League quarter-finals against Italy this Thursday, the name Bisseck could be on the list.

The fact that the professional is ready today is almost a little miracle. His career was anything but straightforward. As a promising talent at the 1st FC Köln, he went through the youth teams and debuted at the age of 16 as the youngest Bundesliga player in the club. But instead of the direct breakthrough, an odyssey followed: borrowing to Holstein Kiel, Roda Kerkrade (Netherlands) and Vitória Guimarães (Portugal) were largely unsuccessful.

Bisseck finally made the crucial career step in Denmark near Aarhus Gf. There he matured under coach Uwe Rösler to the top performer and aroused Inter Milan’s attention, who signed him for seven million euros. In his first season in Milan, Bisseck was initially only a supplementary player, but continuously developed.

He has a major role in the current season. In four Champions League missions, Inter kept the zero with him on the defensive. Above all, his appearance was impressive in the 1-0 win against Arsenal, in which he prevailed in the duel with stars such as Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.

“Bisseck is an incredibly strong player,” said Inter-coach Simone Inzaghi and emphasized his versatility in the triple chain. His contract was extended prematurely until 2029 – a clear sign of trust in his qualities.

With a market value of around 30 million euros, Bisseck is currently one of the most valuable German players who have not yet been nominated for the A national team-a status that should soon change. Nagelsmann himself saw Bisseck live and did not hesitate to contact him personally. “When I heard ‘Hello, Julian Nagelsmann here’ on the phone, it was incredible. The national coach knows my name!” Bisseck described this moment in December in an interview with the “Sport Bild”.

Bisseck’s physical presence (1.96 meters, 87 kilograms), paired with its mobility and tactical discipline, make it an interesting option for the national team. “I would like to have the aggressiveness of Antonio Rüdiger. The opponents think about the kick -off: ‘Oh no, I don’t feel like it today. So I want to come into the psyche of my opponents,” Bisseck confidently explained.

The Cameroonian Association is also interested in Bisseck due to its roots. But the defender has a different preference: “My clear priority is the DFB,” he clarified. On March 20, Bisseck could celebrate his DFB debut in his adopted home of Milan-another milestone in a career, which after a few detours now points steeply.
