With great morality, Borussia Dortmund has reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and can look forward to football festivals against FC Barcelona. The team of coach Niko Kovac won the Losc Lille in the round of 16 second leg after an early deficit with 2: 1 (0: 1). Emre Can (54th minute/penalty) and Maximilian Beier (65th) with his first royal class goal turned the game with their goals in favor of the Westphalia, which had played 1-1 in the first leg.
The Dortmunders still have the chance to save their otherwise screwed up season with success in the premier class. The BVB did not let an early set -up through the goal of Jonathan David (5th) in the atmospheric Stade Pierre Mauroy. Dortmund gained numerous opportunities. Unlike in the Bundesliga, the Borussians showed resilience and wit.
After the embarrassing 0: 1 against FC Augsburg, Kovac changed his starting eleven to four positions. Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Beier, Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Ryerson moved into the team. Among other things, the recently weak dribble artist Jamie Gitten and, according to Kovac, Ramy Bensebaini, weakened by his Ramadan fasting, stayed outside. “Today it will be really impulsive and emotional,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl before the game at DAZN. “We have to defend ourselves.”
Dortmund beats early – dream goal of Beier
But it started very badly. After a careless Dortmund ball loss on the right side, Ismaily fit in the middle, where David had a lot of space. The 25-year-old actually did not hit the ball particularly hard or placed, but BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel left the shot through his legs, which was slightly deflected by Nico Schlotterbeck. A goal of a goal for the previous Dortmund season.
After all, the BVB did not bend. The guests held against it and sometimes won the very best chances within a very short time. Only Lille keeper Lucas Chevalier and defender Alexsandro clarified in a network against Pascal. Then neither Julian Brandt nor Serhou Guirassy put the ball in the goal in a crazy scene or Serhou Guirassy on his 29th birthday. Dortmund had more of the game, but Lille remained dangerous. Captain Benjamin André narrowly missed the 2-0 with his head. Shortly before the break, a large header roamed the crossbar – the BVB lacked luck.
Even after the change of sides, the Borussia played further forward and was rewarded. Guirassy went down in the duel with former Dortmund Thomas Meunier and referee Sandro Schärer decided on a penalty. Captain can converted safely. From the compensation, the game was not only completely open from the result. Both teams played forward. Kobel prevented Hákon Haraldson from a long -range shot by Hákon Haraldson – almost in return, Karim Adeyemi scored the crossbar.
Shortly afterwards, Beier had the traveling BVB fans cheered. After Guirassy’s passport, the 22-year-old took the ball heavily and banged it from around 14 meters into the corner. BVB withdrew with the lead in the back. Lille pushed, but was hardly really dangerous. Dortmund confidently brought the lead over time. The quarter-final first leg against the Barça Star Saile by ex-national coach Hansi Flick will take place on April 8th or 9th in Barcelona. The second leg on April 15th or 16 in Dortmund.
