FC Bayern confidently played into the quarter -finals of the Champions League. But what’s next? And what about BVB?
In the round of 16, the Munich team went against the reigning German champion. The results were more clear than initially thought. Bayern won the first leg in the Allianz Arena 3-0. Even in the second leg, the “Werkelf” club gave no chance and won 2-0.
Since the draw in February, the complete path of all teams has been determined to the final.
In the quarter -finals, the reigning Italian champion and current league leader Inter Milan is waiting for the German record champions. Dortmund, Lille or Barcelona would then wait in a possible semi -finals. BVB faces the OSC Lille in the round of 16. The first leg in Dortmund ended 1-1. So everything is still open in the second leg. The French club is currently fifth in Ligue 1, is one of the biggest surprises in the Champions League. So Lille hit Real Madrid 1-0 at home and defeated ATlético Madrid 3-1 away. Favorite fright Feyenoord was handled 6-1 by the French.
In a quarter-finals with BVB participation there would be a reunion with Hansi Flick. The former national coach was already a guest in Signal Iduna Park with FC Barcelona in mid -December. At that time, Flicks won eleven with 3-2 at BVB.
Should Dortmund prevail against Lille and then Barcelona, there would be a duel with FC Bayern or Inter Milan.
On the other side of the tournament tree there are also two real top games. On the one hand, in the round of 16 Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool already prevailed, on the other hand, Real Madrid leads 2-1 in the city derby against Atlético after the first leg.
