Bayern sports director Max Eberl and Leverkusen’s managing director Fernando Carro were not always green. But for the time being, the war line seems to be buried.

The two have a past: Max Eberl and Fernando Carro. Last summer, the sports director of FC Bayern Munich and the managing director of Bayer Leverkusen fought a public exchange of blows.

The background was the poker around international Jonathan Tah. The Munichers wanted to remove the central defender from Leverkusen, negotiations with the direct competitor were tough. Then Carro let himself be carried away with an informal round with Leverkusen fans a statement that caused a sensation. He said, “So, I don’t think of Max Eberl, absolutely nothing” and pushed after: “And I wouldn’t negotiate with him.” Later Carro had to apologize for the statements.

Before the round of 16th round between the two clubs in the Champions League, Eberl and Carro met for a joint interview with the broadcasting streaming service Amazon Prime. Moderator Alexander Schlüter came directly to the precarious topic: “I rate this as a very good sign that they are both at the table together. I am very happy about it. There are said to have been different times,” he said.

Carro took it sporty, just said: “Yes, football is emotional, but we always understand each other better.” Eberl pushed with a smile: “We see you so often.” Carro replied with a laugh: “Too often.” The Champions League second leg is the third game within one month after the first leg last week and the Bundesliga party in February. There was also a direct duel between the two teams in the DFB Cup.

The two club bosses therefore had enough opportunities to clear out their differences.
