Every year we give more tips to Meld Misdaad Anonymous. A number of those tips get the news, think of drug labs that are canceled or large parties illegal fireworks that are discovered. Most tips are about drugs, but not all of them.
“Possibly illegal cigarettes are sold from a shed behind a house in Eindhoven,” sounded the tip that Meld Misdaad received anonymous. It turned out to be a golden tip, because a million illegal cigarettes were found. In addition to the house, sheds were also searched. There were many more things there that could not bear the daylight
An anonymous tip about Vlijmen led in March to the discovery of a large amount of laughing gas bottles, drugs, weapons and fireworks in a home. The Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) had to be added to make the fireworks harmless. The occupant of the building has been arrested.
Shants, houses, sheds but also cars are tipped as suspicious. For example, it was reported in April that a 29-year-old Tilburger would deal from his car drugs. He had already been arrested for those kinds of things. The man was monitored and caught red -handed when he had just closed a deal with someone who stood next to his car.
Tips are often about drugs, but can unexpectedly lead to by -catch. For example, after a tip a 28-year-old man from Oosterhout was arrested because he had more than 10 kilograms of amphetamine in the house. Because raw materials and other items such as jerry cans were also found, the suspect probably made the amphetamine himself. The suspect also turned out to have another tens of days in prison for another case.
Drug labs, explosives and heavy fireworks are very undesirable in residential areas. If a tip comes in that kilos of heavy fireworks are stored in a home, it is high time for action. In Mill, 100 kilos of heavy fireworks were discovered and here too the police had by -catch in the form of weapons and a large batch of drugs.
Those who pass on a tip remains guaranteed to be anonymous. “We ask if the tip can be traced to who the informer is. If so, we will not use the tip,” says a spokesperson for the Tiplijn. “In a bad case, this means that we can’t do anything with the information. Sometimes we can also put the police on a trail without traceable details.”
