For Leon Goretzka, returning to the DFB selection is currently not a big issue. “I am not in contact with Julian,” the veteran replied on Monday evening when asked whether he was recently spoken to national coach Julian Nagelsmann.
“It is no secret that I made every single of my international matches with great pride and of course I would also like to be there. But I don’t worry or do not worry now,” said the 57-time international: “If the Julian should call me, I will withdraw.”
On Thursday, the German contingent for the National League quarter-finals against Italy (March 20 and 23) will be announced.
Compared to the national team, Goretzka fought back into the first team at Bayern. “I have always tried to stay up, to do my job and to step on the gas in training,” emphasized the clearer, who was considered a candidate for sales in summer.
He was happy to be on the pitch again more often: “So it is welcome to go on.” Goretzka made it clear. “I was convinced that I could help the team.”

Leon Goretzka does not yet think of the future.
