Fight for the Presidium
Will an Olympic champion soon become part of the HSV bosses?

In June, the HSV chooses a new person for the top of the club. But who takes over the part?
After HSV President Marcell Jansen’s withdrawal, the fight for his successor is slowly absorbed. Kai Esselgroth, Chairman of the HSV Honorary Council, has already officially made his candidacy. It is also expected that Supervisory Council and Vice President Michael Papenfuß will also go into the race.
As the “picture” reports, another application was received at the weekend. The entrepreneur Frank Ockens, Supervisory Board Dr. Ralph Hartmann and the former beach volleyball Olympic champion Laura Ludwig want to compete together.
Ludwig, who won Olympic Gold in Beach Volleyball in Rio de Janeiro together with Kira Walkenhorst as the first European women’s team, should be responsible for the sporting area in the trio. As President, Ockens is applying to Hartmann-as was already under ex-President Jens Meier from 2015 to 2018.
“We submitted our documents to the advisory board on Sunday,” said Ockens the “Bild”. Although the members basically vote on the presidium offices individually, the trio strives to be elected together as a team.
How the chances of Laura Ludwig and Co. are also dependent on the competition. Because more candidates may be added.
