The Los Angeles Chargers agreed on a new contract for the coming season shortly before the start of the Free Agency in the NFL with their superstar pass-rusher Khalil Mack. He does not come onto the market.

Mack (34) would have become Free Agent for the first time in his career. However, he goes into a fourth year with the Chargers, who had traded for him for the 2022 season.

The 34-year-old ended the last season with the Chargers with 52 pressures and 6 sacks and was used in 16 out of 17 possible games in the regular season.

Mack would have been the best pass rusher on the market. With this deal, however, the Chargers ensure that at least one of their top pass rusher remains in the team in the pre-season. Previously, the other star player had separated from the defensive front, Joey Bosa, for caps.

Mack’s best season is not long ago

Mack was originally the fifth pick in the Draft 2014 of the Oakland Raiders. They traded him in 2018 to the Chicago Bears, for which he was active until 2021. Mack brought it to 107.5 sacks in the NFL in its previous eleven years. His best season so far was in 2023 when he brought it to 17 sacks for the Chargers. In addition, he already forced 32 Fumbles in his career.

In addition, he has achieved two touchdowns in his career, which were both interception returns.

After this move, the Chargers can concentrate on the interior defensive line and looking for new weapons for quarterback Justin Herbert on the offensive. Wide receiver is perhaps the largest weak point of Jim Harbaugh’s team. Apart from that, you may need two new Starting Cornerbacks, as the two previous starters – Asante Samuel Jr. and Kristian Fulton – Free Agents.
