Slavko Vincic will whistle the Champions League duel between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. The Slovenian referee has already gained experience with both teams several times.
The Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic will lead the round of 16 second leg in the Champions League between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. The UEFA announced the start of the game on Tuesday evening (9 p.m./Prime Video and in LiveTicker at T-Online) on Monday.
Vincic is 45 years old and has extensive experience at an international level. The trained telecommunications engineer and owner of a metal company was used, among other things, at the EM 2021 and 2024 and the 2022 World Cup. As a torror, he also participated in the European Championship tournaments in 2012 and 2016.
Vincic was also in demand in significant club competitions: he headed the Europa League final 2022, in which Eintracht Frankfurt won against the Glasgow Rangers in penalty shootout (5: 4). He was also a referee of the Champions League final 2024, in which Borussia Dortmund defeated 0-2 against Real Madrid.
The Slovenian also has experience with Leverkusen and Bavaria. He already whistled both teams three times. While Leverkusen remained undefeated (two victories, a draw), the Munich team had two defeats under Vincic’s management. In October 2022, the German record champion lost 1: 4 at FC Barcelona, in April of the same year he failed with a 1-1 against FC Villarreal in the quarter -finals of the Champions League. In March 2024, on the other hand, Bayern under Vincic achieved a 3-0 win against Lazio Rome, who meant moving into the quarter-finals.
However, a Munich man should combine less good memories with Vincic: the Slovenian showed Leroy Sané the red card in November 2023 in the international match against Austria (0: 2) after an assault against Phillipp Mwene.
