Foxes Berlin celebrate their first victory at THW Kiel

The Füchse Berlin surprisingly won the chasing duel in the Handball Bundesliga. The Berliners won on Sunday after a strong first half at THW Kiel with 31:27 (19:15).

For the Berliners, who moved past Kiel to second place in the table, it was the first win ever at the German champions. The best Berlin throwers were the outstanding Hans Lindberg with eleven and Tim Matthes with five goals.

In solidarity with Ukraine, which had been invaded by Russia, the foxes wore a special jersey. They played in blue and yellow, the colors of Ukraine. Marko Kopljar was back after an injury break, but Johan Koch (childbirth) was absent. With Mijajlo Marsenic, there was only one real pivot in the squad.

The foxes started highly concentrated and caused problems for Kiel from the start with a good defense. They quickly took a 4-1 lead. The hosts equalized to 6:6 after eleven minutes, but the Berliners remained calm, acted very variably in attack and were even able to pull away by five goals before the break (17:12).

However, the guests did not come out of the dressing room well and conceded the equalizer again after a 0:4 run (19:19). The Füchse Berlin were able to counterattack again, but they found it increasingly difficult to attack.
