Two ski hunters in the top 10 and yet a rather sobering performance: At the end of the IBU Cup in the Estonian Otepää, the German biathletes largely convinced with 60 participants in the shooting range, but simply lost too much time on the track.

Stefanie Scherer as eighth and Anna Weidel as ninth achieved two top 10 results for the German biathlon women in the mass start of the IBU Cup in Otepää, but you should not be without restriction in the DSV camp.

In the victory of the Czech Kristyna Otcovska, who triumphed in 36: 02.6 minutes without a mistake, Stefanie Scherer was one of only three athletes who also made the four shooting deposits without a mistake, but the 28-year-old lost 50.2 seconds to the Czech in the cross-country ski run, who is by no means one of the defectors in the field.

That the strong runners from France, Paulo Bätt (3 errors/+15.5 seconds), Camille Bened (2 errors/+22.0 seconds), Gilonne Guigonnat (2 errors/+31.1 seconds) and Voldiya Galmace-Paulin (4 errors/+47.7 seconds), which were two to five, shearer and pasture (2 faults/+58.6) Final round still overhauled or clearly distant, underpinned the impression that the German starter did not really go smoothly.

French dominate “second division of the biathlon”

The other DSV ski hunters also awarded better placements at the shooting range. Lisa Spark (3 errors/+1: 47.2 minutes) was 15th, Selina Kastl (4 errors/+2: 53.3 minutes) had to be satisfied with 27th place, the 24-year-old Mareike Braun could not end her race.

In the overall ranking of the “Second League of the Biathlon”, Scherer is still the best German as seventh place (595 points). In front of her, however, there are six French women who dominate the action in winter 2024/25 at will.

The gentlemen in turn compete at 12:30 p.m.
