The trouble in the ski jumping world is big after the suit scandal at the World Cup in Trondheim. The Norwegians now grant mistakes. However, the accusation of manipulation is decisively rejected.

Norway’s ski jumping head coach Magnus Brevig shows itself to be kept about his athletes at short notice on Saturday evening. “We have committed a regulation. We are sorry that so good world championships end for the Norwegian skiing,” he said to press representatives.

After jumping from the Großchanze, three Norwegians had been disqualified, including the World Cup second Marius Lindvik. The World Association FIS decided on “Manipulation of the suit”. Previously, video recordings had appeared to show Norwegian team members, the suits that have already been removed for the competition and with chips.

Based on these recordings, the ski jumping associations from Austria, Slovenia and Poland had taken a protest against the start of all Norwegians. The German Ski Association (DSV) did not participate, but called for a complete clarification of the situation. Disqualifications then only occurred after in -depth control by the World Association after the competition.

Comment on the next ski jumping slat in the video:

The sports director of the Association of Scandinavians, Jan Erik Aalbu, has now taken over the “responsibility” for the suit scandal, as he said to the broadcaster “NRK”: “The athletes are not responsible at all.” You will now work up “what happened,” said Aalbu.

Norwegians defend themselves: no manipulation, but regular violation

The Norwegian had smashed the protests during the competition on the “ARD” microphone on the grounds that they were only working on the suits for the RAW-Air-Brait in mid-March.

However, there were considerable doubts about this presentation.

“If this is the suits for the new period, I wonder why the suits on the video contain chips. They only exist when the World Cup is over,” says TV expert Sven Hannawald. DSV sports director Horst Hüttel also became clear: “The arguments by colleague Aalbu are broken down by all leading suit experts, complete.”

However, Aalbu told “NRK” the accusation that the suits were intentionally manipulated: “It was not a manipulation of the suit. This is not a fraud, this is not a doping.” The association now wants to investigate who shot the secret video: “It is very clear that someone is after us.”
