The sports board gives update
Extended Kimmich? “The ball is now in the air”

The new contract has not yet been signed. But at Bayern, the committees and Joshua Kimmich agree on a common future.
Sports board member Max Eberl was able to react despite the FC Bayern home defeat against VfL Bochum (2: 3) with humor to the hanging area in the Causa Joshua Kimmich: “The ball is now in the air. And now we both have to record it,” said Eberl after the game.
Eberl referred to a statement by Kimmich last Wednesday evening. After the round of 16 in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen (3-0), the midfield chief had said that the ball was currently at the club in the contract negotiations. On Thursday, the board of directors around Eberl came together with the Supervisory Board to have the extension with the 30-year-old approved by 2029-apparently with success.
Eberl has now left no doubt that Kimmich will extend the record champions. The new status is “that we all have the same opinion”. The extension of the cooperation beyond this season is only about the last details.
“We really announce something when it is signed. We don’t do a poker either, but there are a few things to clarify,” said Eberl. National team captain Kimmich, one of the top earners in the Munich team, will probably receive a four-year contract.
“It is adequately described in public who has to agree,” Eberl noted with a view of the prominently occupied Bavaria supervisory board, who has to grant investments in a higher million framework.
“Jo is a leading player,” said Eberl about Kimmich, playing for Bavaria since 2015: “We do not say for nothing if he then extends the contract with us, he should be captain in the future if Manuel (new; note) is no longer on the pitch.”
