Darmstadt 98 stopped his descent in the 2nd Bundesliga and said goodbye to the relegation zone. After just one win in eight games, the lilies defeated the Karlsruher SC 3-0 (1-0) and initially set out nine points from the relegation place.
ISAC Lidberg (10th), Killian Corredor (73.) and Merveille Papela (79th) scored the goals for the hosts. The KSC collected a defeat again after two victories and missed to contact the top group again.
Lidberg meets for the twelfth time this season
The guests had the first big chance: Nicolai Rapp’s header fended off goalkeeper Marcel Schuen a little unorthodox, then Marcel Franke only hit the top edge of the latte with the margin of a few meters (7th). The first goal fell only three minutes later on the other side: for the lilies, Jean-Paul Boetius first hit the latte, but Lidberg dusted off for his twelfth goal of the season.
In the second half, Darmstadt first missed the second goal despite several good chances. Then a counterattack led to the deserved 2-0 – after a long pass from Fraser Hornby, Lidberg prevailed on the right and served corredor. Papela removed the last doubts with a shot from the penalty area.
