Jaden Agassi wanted to write history with the German national baseball team. But nothing will become of it for the time being.

The German national baseball team must continue to wait for their first participation in a World Cup. In the decisive qualification game, the team led by Jaden Agassi, son of the tennis legend Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, lost 4: 6 against Brazil on Friday night.

National coach Jendrick Speer said: “We already had the opportunity to write history. It hurts, but that’s how sport is.” His team fought to the end, but the necessary bit of luck was missing. “The disappointment is great, we were very close.”

Germany had gone with a win and two defeats from the qualification group in Tucson. That was only enough for third place. In the decision-making game, the team met in Brazil, who also fought for the World Cup ticket as a second in the table. The group victory had already gone to Colombia, while China remained without victory and became the last.

The qualification was particularly bitter for Jaden Agassi. In the first encounter with Brazil, he had approved four runs in his debut in the national team. This had contributed significantly to the 7: 9 defeat.
