The insolvent discounter Kodi is with two bidders: inside in final negotiations on a sale. A decision will be made in the next one to two weeks, said the renovation manager Holger Rhode of the German Press Agency. “The conversations are well advanced.” To possible buyers: He did not want to comment on the inside and at the purchase price.

According to Kodi, Kodi employs 1,800 people in the branches and at the headquarters. The far vast majority of the jobs are expected to be preserved, said Rhode. According to the dpa, both bidders want to take over all 230 branches of the chain.

The last two prospective buyers are said to be a consortium, which Kodi alterable shareholder Richard Nölle also belongs to, as well as the Tedi company. The retailer from Dortmund did not want to comment on request. Tedi has more than 1,900 of its 3,300 markets in Germany. A branch network of 5,000 is aimed internationally in the medium term. It was only in December that Tedi took over 84 shops of the non-food discounter Pfennigpfeiffer. Other competitors such as action also expand strongly.

Insolvency proceedings open on March 1st

Kodi Discontläden GmbH applied for a protective shield procedure in November – due to impending insolvency and over -indebtedness. This was also justified with the purchase of the customers. Almost 10 Kodi branches have been closed in the past few months after the rental contracts had expired. The company continued in the other shops.

On March 1, the bankruptcy proceedings were opened by the Duisburg District Court. According to Rhode, the decision to sell Kodi could probably be made in the creditor committee in mid -March. The believer meeting will take place on May 14th in Duisburg.

Kodi was founded in 1981 and is based in Oberhausen. Among other things, the retail company sells articles from the areas of cleaning, cooking, decorating, do -it -yourself, textiles and food. The annual turnover was last 130 million euros.
