The HD transition has been reflected in the demand for both digital boxes and TVs, says the Price Guide.
However, according to the price guide data, many Finns have ended up or ends up in a more affordable alternative to HD TV. Their popularity increased in the price guide by as much as 1,024 % in January -February compared to the same period last year.
According to the price guide, a set -top box may be a more attractive purchase for a new TV, for example for a cottage.
– Demand for digital boxes in recent years has been low in recent years, which explains explosive growth, but clearly many are considering that alternative to home instead of changing television, the Price Guide Country Manager Liisa Matinvesi-Bassett Comment in the bulletin.
As the deadline approaches, the increase in demand for HD TVs has also been significant, albeit much more moderate than the set-top box. According to the price guide, growth in search volumes has been about 44 % compared to last year.
Cheapest new set -top boxes under 40 euros
The rise in the popularity of digiboxes has also been reflected in their average price, which has risen from last year to $ 60 to the current EUR 82. The users of the price guide have mostly applied for Finlux FUH -7110.
At the lowest price, new HD digiboxes get less than 40 euros, which is significantly less than prices for the cheapest new HD TVs.
-For example, if a 32 or 40-inch TV is sufficient in size, there are several models for $ 200-300, says Matinvesi-Bassett.
If you want to get really cheap, you can find fully functional HD TVs and Dig boxes in the online stores and Facebook fleas, even for free.
Welcome, HD
Yle will disconnect basic SD TV broadcasts on March 31, after which, looking at YLE channels requires an HD compatible receiver. Commercial channels will end their own SD broadcasts on June 30, and with this there are no more than HD TV broadcasts in Finland.
According to Traficom, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, there are still about 100,000 households in Finland that do not have HD reception TV. Of these, 80,000 are, according to Digita, antenna households.
-In addition to our own TV, we encourage you to check the HD capability of your loved ones, especially older TVs, so that TV broadcasts will continue to appear, Traficom’s leader Lasse Laine reported in the bulletin in February.
