Around two years after his end as a sports director of Arminia Bielefeld, Samir Arabi could soon handle transfers for a club again. The English second division league leader Leeds United has the 46-year-old as possible reinforcement for management around the German coach Daniel Farke on the note, report “Kicker” and “Sky”. With the Whites, Arabi could work closely with the 48 -year -old coach in terms of commitment in terms of squad planning.
Farke and Arabi already know each other because the latter wanted to bring the coach to Bielefeld twice, the “kicker” said. After completing his training as a football teacher, Farke was on the Alm. Arabi worked there from 2011 until his resignation in March 2023. At the then seriously relegated second division team, he wanted to clear the way for a fresh start.
Sports director at Leeds has been Angus Kinnear since 2017, and in 2023 Grétar Steinson also came as a technical director of Tottenham Hotspur and Jordan Miles has been a squad planner since 2024. In May 2024, Red Bull came with a minority stake in the former top English club. Jürgen Klopp, Global Sports Director of the Brauskonzern since the beginning of the year, does not want to work in Yorkshire due to a promise to his ex-club FC Liverpool due to a promise.
Leeds’ squad value is the second highest in the league at 173.5 million euros. Last summer, Georginio Rutter (Brighton), Archie Gray (Tottenham), Crysencio Summerville (West Ham) and Luis Sinisterra (Bournemouth) moved to the Premier League – the bottom line is the transfer plus this season. According to Farke, Leeds is “a sleeping giant with enormous potential”. In the medium and long term, he wanted to establish the club in the upper house, he recently praised the “kicker”.
