Instead of new Coldplay music after their 2024 LP Moon Music, front man Chris Martin and Coldplay manager Phil Harvey are now doing a common thing with FIFA. Specifically, the two take care of the musical design of the first half -time show at the final of the World Cup next year.

For official confirmation

FIFA President Gianni Infantino posted photos of the event on Instagram, at which he announced: “I can confirm that the first half-time show at the FIFA World Cup final in New York New Jersey will take place in collaboration with ‘Global Citizen’. This will be a historical moment for the FIFA World Cup. And a show that is appropriate to the world’s greatest sporting event. ” Behind him could be seen on a huge canvas Chris Martin and Phil Harvey that grinned in their laptop camera. Gianni Infantino continued: “I would also like to thank Chris Martin and Phil Harvey from Coldplay, who will work with us at FIFA to complete the list of artists who will appear during the half -time show and on the Times Square.”

So the two do not have the full decision. It looks more like you can add your opinion to existing proposals. However, how it came to cooperation was not announced.

Who will Chris Martin and Phil Harvey probably suggest?

If you ask yourself who the Coldplay men are considering for the event, it is worth taking a look at statements from the band’s earlier interviews. So Martin once said that he would like to listen to Bono and that Coldplay had covered A-ha songs in their early days. He also announced that it was influenced by groups such as Oasis, Muse, Radiohead, Girls Aloud and Take that. So from bands that are famous enough to not be strange on a FIFA world stage. Well, maybe there would be something there?

Radiohead has not performed since 2018, but the rest: A-ha in the summer of 2022, Muse have concert dates for 2025 and both Girls Aloud and Take That and U2 were only on tour previous year. And the Reunion tour of Oasis also comes.

Anyone who has a concrete Coldplay cover are also the US artists Maggie Rogers and Janelle Monáe, who already toured the British as support acts. And on the LP Moon Music there was a song with Ayra rigid, “Good Feelings”, which could also be a clue for possible suggestions of the two.

Plus: Phil Harvey has only managed Coldplay since the turn of the millennium, which does not mean that he does not have other contacts with musicians: inside.
