The equestrian sport mourns around Jonny Hilberath. The co-national coach of the German dressage team died on Wednesday (05.03.25) at the age of 69 after a short and serious illness.

This was announced by the German Equestrian Association (FN), citing Hilberath’s family.

“Jonny Hilberath was all my heart instructor and trainer. His sudden death makes us all very sad and stunned. We will be very missing”said Dennis Peiler as a sports director of the FN.

In 2012, after the sudden death of Holger Schmezer, Jonny Hilberath took over the position of national coach in terms of interim and led the German team to the silver medal at the Olympic Games in London. Then he celebrated international success as an assistant coach alongside national coach Monica Theodorescu.
