The police shot a man on Monday evening on the Holstraat in Haaren when she wanted to arrest him. The suspect is 43 and comes from Haaren.
The man was injured, but he could walk to an ambulance where he will be cared for.
The police announced this around ten past ten. Earlier this Monday evening she was recalled several times because of the man’s aggressive behavior. He would also have destroyed a window and waved with a knife.
Around half past nine he ran away on a scooter, with the police after him. The man fell off his scooter on the Holstraat. After this, according to the police, such a threatening situation arose that she fired a shot towards the suspect.
The National Criminal Investigation Department will independently investigate the firearm use of the police. This is common in situations like this.
