The death of Dieuwertje Blok cuts in with the people. She would actually return to the radio three and a half weeks ago, but it couldn’t be. “This is a very big loss.”
It was a huge shock last year: Dieuwertje Blok announced for the time being to withdraw from the media because she had to have her nose amputated because of cancer. At the beginning of December she first appeared in public with her artificial nose, namely when she was appointed Knight in the Order of Oranje-Nassau.
Nasal amputation
In fact, it was intended that Dieuwertje would pick up her work again this year. At the end of this year she would be seen again as presenter of the Sinterklaasjournaal and three and a half weeks ago she would start again on the radio, namely as a presenter of the classical music program NTR Podium.
Unfortunately a week earlier it was announced that the cancer found at Dieuwertje had returned again, despite the nasal amputation.
Shocked
Frans Timmermans, the leader of GroenLinks-PvdA, is sad. “The death of Dieuwertje Blok has shocked the whole of NL. Everyone started appreciating her and even loving her as a pivot of the annual Sinterklaas journal. Generations of the Dutch have therefore closed her in their hearts forever. Rest in peace, dear Dieuwertje. ”
And party prominent Lodewijk Asscher: “Oh what a sad news. Dieuwertje Blok (1957-2025). May her soul be bundled in the collection of eternal life. “
Terrible news
Caroline van der Plas is also shocked. “Terrible news. For many children, including mine unforgettable as the face of the Sinterklaas news. Strength to her loved ones, friends and colleagues. A big loss. 🙏 ”
RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade: “What an intensely sad news. Far too fast and way too early … “
And Jan de Hoop: “How terrible.”
