The BR Volleys won the volleyball cup. In the final against the Power Volleys Düren, they prevailed 3-2. The team of Joel Banks once again demonstrated strong nerves.

The starting point was clear: the Berlin Recycling Volleys Going into play as a favorite, the outsider role held the SWD Power Volleys Düren. In the Mannheimer SAP Arena, this division of power was also reflected in the first few minutes of the game. Berlin immediately punished every little Düren mistake and rewarded himself with an interim 8: 4 lead.

Comfortable for the defending champion from Berlin: They managed to keep this distance in the following course of the 1st set. Düren did not seem aggressive enough and the volleys – especially Jake Hanes – gave an appearance at the highest level.

Narrow sets of sets of the Berliner

But then Düren found a way, equalized to 18:18 and even took the lead. Berlin collapsed enormously for the usual conditions and coach Joel Banks became surprisingly nervous. Volley’s player Moritz Reichert, who at the time the best impact on the game, provided the start of the last-contested-minutes of the 1st sentence: And then it was Matthew Knigge and the power edge that made the last point for the Berliners and the set 25:23 went out.

Matthew Neaves stands out

In front of around 10,300 spectators, Düren then started unimpressed in set number two. A 10: 6 lead in the table had the sixth in the table of the volleyball Bundesliga. The team of Christophe remained on it, continued to expand the lead and ensured nervousness on the part of the Berliners. They wanted to start catching up several times, but they were anything but easy. Above all, the Dürener Matthew Neaves played outstanding. It was also the 24-year-old who converted the set ball in the 2nd set. With 25:22 he went to the Power Volleys from Düren.

Düren has a solution for everything

A much more balanced game developed than expected. None of the teams were able to settle in sentence number three. The Dürener in colorfully dotted carnival strikes kept against it. Matthew Knigge seemed to have trained Netzrollerass beforehand and ensured important points, but the Düren Block had been strongly prepared for the Berlin game. Again a league in itself: volleys professional Jake Hanes. And yet he didn’t have enough to oppose: the outsiders from Düren – with their apparently perfect preparation in their luggage – won the 3rd set.

Crystal clear 5th set

Nobody had expected this course of the game. And there was nothing to be seen in the 4th set of collapsing the Dürener. The new edition of the 2023 final offered the very best volleyball entertainment-this time with a better end for the Berliners and a 25:19 set win.

The question in the 5th sentence: Which team remains cool? And it emerged early: it is the over-team from Berlin that proved why she wears this label. Because it suddenly became very clear. Düren only scored a few points, hardly anything went together. Above all, everything went together for the Berliners. With a sovereignty that is second to none, the volleys Düren ran down in the 5th set and won it with 15: 5.
