At the Oscars 2025, some of the legendary James Bond songs were also recognized.
At the 2025 Oscar ceremony, long-time Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson and the music of the James Bond films were honored with a special medley. Lisa, Doja Cat and Raye presented some of the best -known title songs from the film series. The segment began with a dance performance by Margaret Qualley, followed by Lisa’s interpretation of “Live and Let Die”. Afterwards Doja Cat sang “Diamonds Are Forever”, and Raye completed the Medley with the Adele hit “Skyfall”- See here.
The homage to the legendary bond music was moderated by Halle Berry. She paid tribute to Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson-only recently had announced that they would withdraw as producers and to give Amazon creative freedom with all other James Bond films.
That means Hollywood the music of James Bond
James Bond’s music is as iconic as the character itself. In addition to the “James Bond Theme” by Monty Norman and John Barry, the songs written for the films are particularly formative, including Shirley Bassey’s “Goldfinger” (1964) and “Diamonds Are Forever” (1971), Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” (1973), Duran Durans “A view to a kill” (1985), Adeles “Skyfall” (2012), Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” (2015) and Billie Eilish’s “No Time to Die” (2020). The songs are also formative for Hollywood: the three last mentioned titles were each awarded an Oscar.
With the $ 8.5 billion takeover of the traditional MGM Studios in May 2022, 4,000 films and 17,000 TV episodes received a new owner: Amazon. Their boss Jeff Bezos has been moving into the realm of Hollywood with the streaming platform Amazon Prime for some time. A highlight in the takeover package: the James Bond franchise.
Compared to the US news page “Hollywood Reporter”, the former bond actor David Craig emphasized: “My respect, my admiration and love for Barbara and Michael remain unabated. I wish Michael a long, relaxed (and well -deserved) pension. And everything that Barbara does in the future will be spectacular – and I hope to be part of it. ”
