Huge jubilee in the German ski jumping team: After very difficult months, the DSV eagles jumped out of the crisis at the Nordic Ski World Cup in Norway. Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger delighted on Sunday (02.03.2025) in the World Cup decision.

“Crash”, “Next disappointment”, “drama” – the headlines that the German ski jumpers flew around the ears in the past few weeks were painful. It is all the better that the DSV-wide hunters managed the turnaround at the highlight of the season.

Andreas Wellinger won silver at the first World Cup one in Trondheim, Karl Geiger flew past the medals as fourth, but mixed with the breathtaking ski jumping thriller at the front and also redeemed national coach Stefan Horngacher, who was recently criticized. The new world champion is the Norwegian Marius Lindvik, bronze went to Jan Hörl.

“The boys did a great job. We have really accelerated in the past few weeks. A medal is much easier to do with a medal,” breathed Horngacher.

Head-to-head race for victory

It was a gripping competition in which there were seven jumper together before the final within ten points. Wellinger (2nd) and violinist (5th). In the first round, Wellinger got an almost perfect jump to 106.5 meters – even though wind support was missing in the slope. Geiger wore it to 105.5 meters.

In addition to Wellinger and Geiger, two Norwegians, two Austrians and a Japanese were positioned in the fight for the medals. Marius Lindvik set up a new ski jump record at 108 meters and was also on a gold course, Jan Hörl (3. Place/107 m), Johann André Forfang (4. Place/107 m), Stefan Kraft (6th place/106 MR) and Ryoyu Kobayashi (7th place/104 m) could have hopes on precious metal.

Geiger misses bront hair.

From the circle of medal candidates, Kobayashi had to be the first in the final. It quickly became clear that 103.5 meters would not be enough. Kraft (101 m), which went on track immediately afterwards, sat in front of the Japanese. The pole position kept briefly: At 102 meters, Geiger flew to the top position.

Forfang was the next – a brilliant jump he did not do – 100.5 meters, but good grades and then waiting: 0.1 points behind violinist! Hörl passed the German with 102 meters and had a medal. Just which one? Wellinger and Lindvik stood up. Wellinger delivered at 104.5 meters, Lindvik jumped exactly as far, but benefited from the lead and cheered over the world championship title.

Wellinger’s medal had already indicated in training and qualification. The 29-year-old, who loves the little ski jumps, always mixed in front. Suddenly the jumps ran as if by themselves. Cramping and self -doubt, which were recently in the way of the German, were blown away. The shape saved Wellinger – who had already brought silver from the normal hill at the 2023 World Cup – into the competition.

Small ski jump-Karle stabs

Karl Geiger could finally laugh again. The Klein skanclor karle – as the Karl Geiger is called because of his bounce power – did everything right at the ski jump table, used the upswing and ended up in the first round at 105.5 meters and thus in the top group. As fifth at half -time, Geiger was only 1.3 points behind the bronze square. But the field is extremely close together. In the final, Geiger convinced with 102 meters – in the end he missed the medal by almost three points.

“Later” Raimund without Medal chance

Philipp Raimund was full of euphoria after good training jumps and had predicted a podium, if he had two top jumps, the medal dream burst after the first attempt. 99 meters were solid, but not the required outlier up. The 24-year-old width hunter from SC Oberstdorf was in 20th place at halftime and was annoyed: “I was far too late and then my very power brings me nothing anymore.”

Raimund was more punctual in the final, but landed again at 99 meters. “In training I was always in the top ten, so the potential was there”said Raimund, who could not be happy about his 15th place.

Paschke trembles into the final

Pius Paschke, the high -flyer at the beginning of the season, trembled in the second round at 96.5 meters and also struggled forward on his second attempt: at 89 meters in difficult conditions, the veteran, who feels more comfortable on the large ski jump, did not go forward. “Unfortunately, the result is not satisfactory”said Paschke, who also has to deal with a cold, on ZDF.

Oldie Ammann with 13th World Cup participation

The second round, on the other hand, missed ski jumping gold Simon Ammann, who had recently disappeared from the scene, but reappeared at the World Cup. The 43 -year -old prevailed in the internal qualification of the Swiss, but sailed at his 13th World Cup participation with 92.5 meters – he clearly passed his premiere in 1999 – clearly past the final of the best 30. Nevertheless, he had reason to cheer: Ammann jumped into the book of records: 13 starts at a World Cup only Noriaki Kasai from Japan.
