After her sensational victory, Emma Aicher was in the spotlight in Kvitfjell at the Super-G. But the German-Swedish did not cope with the tight corners and eliminated. The Italian Federica Brignone secured the victory.

After Emma Aicher drove the podium for the first time on Friday and was even able to win her first World Cup victory a day later, she was part of the extended favorite group in the Super-G. At the World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, the 21-year-old drove to the strong sixth place.

Failure of Aicher

But with the technically demanding Super-G in Norway, Aicher had its problems and could not build on her good performances of the previous days. The 21-year-old presented the tight curves with challenges. From the beginning she could not keep the line properly – in the middle part there was an end to Aicher: she missed a right of law and drove past the goal. “Well, today I didn’t do it so well. I have to tick off the race and learn from it”said Aicher on ZDF.

Weidle-Winkelmann: “The direction is right”

Kira Weidle-Winkelmann, who had fallen the day before in the departure, showed a solid performance and drove to tenth place (+0.66 seconds) “The fall yesterday was already a defeat for me. It was easy to see that I got out of it. The direction is right – now it’s time to stay tuned”said Weidle-Winkelmann. Fabiana Dorigo missed the World Cup points as 32nd (+2.59).

Brignone wins Hundredthrow

Federica Brignone was also not on the road without errors, was just able to prevent a failure, but the Italian drove an extremely tight line. But their competitors did not remain flawless either. Lara Gut-Behrami had her problems in the upper part, was half a second behind Brignone. The Swiss woman caught up in the lower part and was only 0.06 seconds behind Brignone at the finish line. Sofia Goggia from Italy took third place only 0.03 seconds behind the Swiss woman. “It wasn’t easy. Nobody achieved a perfect journey“, said Brignone.

With her victory, Brignone expanded her lead in the overall World Cup to 251 points in front of Gut-Behrami. In the Super G World Cup, she shortened her gap to the Swiss to 55 points.
