For example, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz report that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want to stop the war under any circumstances. Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky says the Russians can only take Kiev “if it is razed to the ground”.
