According to mauen results in the previous individual races of the biathlon World Cup, the German team is growing beyond itself in the mixed season.
The German mixed relay surprisingly won gold at the Junior Biathlon World Cup. In Swedish Östersund, silver went to France (+16.9 seconds), bronze to Austria (+18.5) on Friday. The favorite Norwegians (+1 minute) only came in fourth place. “We said to ourselves: Today it is possible, we must not allow ourselves to make mistakes”said final runner Linus Kesper.
Alma Siegismund and Lotta de Buhr had ensured that the German team still had contact with the top at half -time. At the fifth of eight shooting, Fabian Kaskel took the lead because France allowed too many mistakes. Kaskel had achieved the best German result as the seventh the day before in the individual race over 15 kilometers.
Kesper confidently brings the lead to the finish line
Kaskel was also the first to move to the final runners, Kesper went on the track with a 21 second lead over Austria and France. He had to reload when he was shooting, but also his pursuers.
The decision was made in the final standing shooting. Kesper went high, only his second attempt went next to it and the first after the loader was sitting. “When I missed the wrong shot, I already felt the nozzle”, ” said Kesper. “But then I thought about the words of my trainer: ‘The first loader has to fit.’ And accordingly it worked quite well. ”
Kesper’s pursuers took significantly longer at the final shooting, so that the German victory no longer came in danger.
